Attach photos, videos and documents to a car and set its cover photo
This guide attaches files to a car and manages them on the Files tab.
Requirements: The Owner or Manager role to upload, remove or change files. Car Documents Access to see and open documents. The storage allowance of the dealership must have room.
Alternatively, drag files onto the card. An overlay named Drop into a group shows the four categories. Drop the files on a category. A drop anywhere else adds the files to General.
A progress tray lists each file while it uploads. A failed file stays in the tray with its reason until the tray is dismissed. A successful batch disappears after a few seconds. The files appear under the heading of their category.
The label at the top of the Add menu shows the size limit of the card.
| Card | Accepted files | Size limit |
|---|---|---|
| Photos and video | Photos in JPG, PNG or WebP. Videos in MP4, MOV or WebM | 50 MB for a photo. 1 GB for a video |
| Documents | PDF, JPG, PNG, Markdown, DOC, DOCX, XLS and XLSX | 25 MB |
A file that belongs on the other card is refused with a message that names the card. The dashboard shows a message for any other type and for a file above the size limit.
A JPG or PNG file added to Documents is stored as a document.
Documents have no public address. Each open or download uses a link that expires after a short time.
A category shows eight photos first. Select Show all followed by the number to see the rest. Select Show less to fold the category.
The cover photo is the first photo of the car. It appears in the list as the thumbnail and at the top of the car page. A badge named Cover marks it.
The summary panel shows the number of photos when the car has more than one.
The dashboard removes the file at once and shows File removed. No confirmation appears. The storage space of the file returns to the dealership.
