Edit Cars
Change the details of a car with the edit form or in place on the car page
This guide changes the recorded details of a car.
Requirements: The Owner or Manager role. Other roles see the values without editing controls.
- Open Inventory.
- Open the menu of the row for the car, which has the label More actions for followed by the car name, and select Edit. Alternatively open the car and select Edit.
- Change the fields in the Edit Vehicle dialog. The fields are the same as in Add a car to the inventory.
- Select Save Changes.
The dialog closes and a message named Vehicle Updated appears. The list and the car page show the new values.
The form changes details only. The description of the dialog states that stage changes are managed on the car page. See Move a car through the lifecycle.
- Open the car and stay on the Overview tab.
- Select the value to change in Vehicle Specifications or Acquisition.
- Enter the new value.
- Select the save button, which has the label Save followed by the field name. Select Cancel or press Escape to discard the change.
Only the edited field is written. Other fields of the car stay unchanged.
| Card | Fields that can be edited in place |
|---|
| Vehicle Specifications | VIN, Plate, Year, Mileage with its unit, Color, Body type, Engine, Transmission, Fuel |
| Acquisition | Purchase price, Asking price, Purchased, Source listing |
The two price fields need Car Financial Access. The value Added to inventory cannot be edited.
- The in-place editors apply the same rules as the form. A message under the field explains a rejected value.
- An empty value clears the field.
- A VIN that belongs to another car of the dealership is refused with a message.
- The in-place price editors keep the currency of the price. Use the form to change a currency or an exchange rate.
- The Notes card appears on the Overview tab only when the car has notes. The notes can be changed in the form, under Payment.
The edited value appears on the Overview tab and in the inventory list.
