Give a task to one or more team members, or to one outside assignee
A task goes either to team members or to one outside assignee. Both kinds cannot hold the same task.
Requirements: the Hand Out Tasks permission. The owner and manager roles hold it by default. Without it, the Assignment panel does not appear on the task page.
Each choice applies at once. The message Team member assigned appears and the name shows in the panel. No save button exists.
To remove a team member, point at the name in the panel and select the remove button. The message Team member removed appears.
An outside assignee is a person without a login, such as an inspector, a transporter or a garage.
The message Task assigned appears. The panel shows the name and the label Outsourced. Carlio also creates the share link of the task. The Sharing panel describes the link. See Share a task with an outside assignee.
Assigning an outside assignee removes every team member from the task. Assigning a team member removes the outside assignee and revokes the share link. The panel states this rule below the form.
Selecting Assign & Share again with a new name replaces the outside assignee and creates a new link.
Each team member chooses the delivery channels in the notification settings.
A team member who is assigned to a task may change its status, answer its checklist, post comments and add attachments. This holds even without the Edit Any Task permission. Editing the details of the task still requires Edit Any Task.
The Self-Assigned, External and Unassigned chips in the task list filter by assignee. See Find and filter tasks.
