# Checklists (https://docs.carlio.app/docs/tasks/work-a-task-checklist)

Answer each checklist line of a task and add a note

The checklist lists the steps of a task. Each line receives one answer.

**Requirements:** the **Edit Any Task** permission, or an assignment to the task. Other team members read the checklist but cannot answer it.

## Steps [#steps]

1. Open the task page.
2. Select the **Checklist** tab. The count on the tab shows the number of answered lines.
3. For each line, select one answer button.
4. Optional: enter text in the **Note for this line…** field of the line.

The card header shows the progress, for example **4 of 13 checked**. When a line has the answer **Problem**, the header adds the count, for example **4 of 13 checked · 1 problem**.

## Answers [#answers]

| Button | Meaning |
| ----------- | ------------------------------------- |
| **OK** | The line passed. |
| **Problem** | The line failed. |
| **N/A** | The line does not apply to this task. |

A line that has no answer reads **Not checked** for team members who cannot answer it.

## Notes [#notes]

A note saves when the cursor leaves the note field, if the line already has an answer. A note on a line without an answer is sent together with the next answer button that is selected.

Selecting another answer button changes the answer of a line. The note stays.

## Notifications [#notifications]

Each answer creates the notification **Checklist updated** for the team members assigned to the task and the team members who follow it. The default delivery is the in-app feed only.

## Limits [#limits]

* A task has at most 100 checklist lines.
* A line holds at most 200 characters.
* A note holds at most 500 characters.
* The message **This task has no checklist.** appears when the task has no lines.
