Create, send, replace and delete the link that gives an outside assignee access to one task



A task link opens one task for an outside assignee, such as an inspector or a driver. The assignee needs no account. The link is created on the task page.

**Requirements:** permission to hand out tasks (**Hand Out Tasks**). The owner and manager roles hold it by default. The task must be assigned to an outside assignee.

## Create the link [#create-the-link]

1. Open **[Tasks](https://carlio.app/dashboard/tasks)** in the sidebar and select the task.
2. Assign the task to an outside assignee, when it is not yet assigned to one. Until then, the **Sharing** panel reads "Not created" and states "A link can be created once the task is assigned to an outside assignee."
3. Find the **Sharing** panel in the side column.
4. Select **Create link**.

The dashboard shows the message "Share link created". The panel shows the button **Open Task** and the expiry date in **Expires**. The link is valid for 30 days.

## Send the link [#send-the-link]

1. Open the menu with the three dots in the **Sharing** panel.
2. Optional: select **Language** and choose a language. The entry **Their language** is the default and lets the page follow the language of the visitor.
3. Select one of these actions.
   * **Copy link**. The dashboard shows "Link copied".
   * **Send on WhatsApp**. WhatsApp opens with a prepared message and the link. The message goes to the phone number of the assignee when one is recorded.
   * **Send on Telegram**. Telegram opens its sharing dialog with the prepared message and the link.

The prepared message names the dealership and states that a new task is waiting for review.

## Replace the link [#replace-the-link]

1. Open the menu with the three dots.
2. Select **Change Link**.

The dashboard shows "Share link rotated". The old link stops working at once. The new link is valid for 30 days.

## Delete the link [#delete-the-link]

1. Open the menu with the three dots.
2. Select **Delete**.

The dashboard shows "Share link revoked". The page stops opening. The panel offers **Create link** again.

## Notes [#notes]

* The panel states "Anyone holding this link can open the task without an account." while a link exists.
* After the expiry date, the page shows "Link not valid". Select **Change Link** to issue a new link.
* A task without an outside assignee cannot have a link.
* The assignee can finish the task from the page. The dashboard then sets the task to done and notifies the team. The guide [Review what the task page shows](/docs/portals/review-the-task-page) describes the page.
