# Commissions (https://docs.carlio.app/docs/partners/review-partner-commissions)

See what a partner earned, what the dealership paid and what remains outstanding

Review commissions to find which deals still owe the partner money, or owe the dealership money.

**Requirements:** **Partner Commission Access** and **Partner Directory Access**. The **Record Payment** and **Record Settlement** buttons also need the **Record Payments & Costs** permission. Without **Partner Commission Access**, the **Commissions** tab and the **Terms** card do not appear.

## Read the balance [#read-the-balance]

1. Open the partner page.
2. Read the **Terms** card in the side column.

| Row | Meaning |
| ------------------- | -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Standing rate** | The standing terms of the partner, or **Not set** |
| **Earned on deals** | The net commission of the won deals. **Owed to Them** means the dealership owes the partner. **Owed to Us** means the partner owes the dealership. |
| **Outstanding** | The net commission minus the payments to the partner plus the settlements received from the partner |
| **Won Deals** | The number of won deals that have terms and a sale price |
| **In Flight** | The number of open deals of the partner |

The value **Settled** appears when a figure is zero.

## Read the commissions per deal [#read-the-commissions-per-deal]

1. Open the **Commissions** tab. The tab number counts the deals with a commission.
2. Read the groups **Owed to Partner** and **Owed to Dealership**.

Each row shows the car, the deal number, the customer, the rate and the date won. Each row also shows the commission amount and a state.

| State | Meaning |
| ---------------- | --------------------------------------------------------- |
| **Open** | Nothing is settled. The row shows **Nothing settled**. |
| **Part Settled** | A part is settled. The row shows the amount that is left. |
| **Settled** | The full amount is settled. |

A deal appears here only when it is **Won**, has commission terms and has a sale price. For a **Markup** deal the row also shows **Partner keeps** and the partner amount. The commission amount in that row is what the partner owes the dealership.

The footer of the tab shows **Earned by partner**, **Owed by partner**, **Settled** and **Outstanding**.

## Record a payment against a commission [#record-a-payment-against-a-commission]

1. On the row, select **Record Payment** for an amount owed to the partner, or **Record Settlement** for an amount owed to the dealership.
2. In the **Record Transaction** dialog, check the amount. It starts with the amount that remains.
3. Select **Record**.

The dialog starts with **Amount Out** and the category **Partner Commission** for a payment. It starts with **Amount In** and the category **Partner Settlement** for a settlement.

## Notes [#notes]

* The row **Not Attached to a Deal** appears when recorded money does not match a won deal. The text under it explains whether the money was paid or received. The amount counts in the outstanding total.
* The **Deals** tab shows the column **Commission Paid** with the same states.
* A won deal adds its commission to the **Awaiting** list of the deal. See [Change the status of a deal](/docs/deals/change-the-status-of-a-deal).
* Partner commission has its own permission. A team member can see a partner without seeing what the partner earns.
