# Notifications (https://docs.carlio.app/docs/overview/read-notifications)

Open the notification feed, mark entries as read and follow a record

The notification feed lists the events that concern the signed-in team member. The feed is always on. It cannot be switched off.

## Open the feed [#open-the-feed]

1. Select the bell button at the end of the header. Its label is **Notifications**.
2. Read the list in the panel that opens.
3. Select **View all** to open the **Notifications** page.

The bell shows a badge with the number of unread entries. The badge shows **99+** above 99. The badge updates while the dashboard is open.

## Read an entry [#read-an-entry]

Each entry shows:

* The picture or the initials of the person who acted. An event created by Carlio itself, such as a due date, shows an icon and the name **Carlio**.
* The event title, for example **Task assigned**, and the time.
* A dot at the end of the title line when the entry is unread.
* A subject line that describes the event.
* A quoted excerpt when the event is a comment or a message.
* Detail lines, for example the due date or the checklist item.

Entries are grouped under **Today**, **Yesterday** and **Earlier**. The newest entry is first.

## Open the record [#open-the-record]

Select an entry. The dashboard opens the record that the event concerns and marks the entry as read. The panel closes. An entry without a record is not a link.

## Filter and mark as read [#filter-and-mark-as-read]

1. Select **Unread** to list unread entries only. Select **All** to list every entry.
2. Select **Mark All** to mark every unread entry of the account as read. The button appears when the list holds an unread entry.

The empty states read **There are no notifications yet.** and **Everything has been read.**

## The Notifications page [#the-notifications-page]

The page lists the newest 50 entries, with the same **All** and **Unread** buttons, **Mark All** and the same grouping. The panel of the bell lists the newest 12 entries.

## Events [#events]

The dashboard raises 19 kinds of event.

| Money | **Invoice Shared**, **Payment Settled**, **Payment Overdue** |
| Team | **Team Member Invited**, **Role Changed** |

**Task completed** is raised when an outside assignee finishes a task from the share link. **Task due soon** is raised for a task with an assigned team member when the due date falls within the next 24 hours.

## Who receives an event [#who-receives-an-event]

* The team members named by the event, such as the assigned team member.
* The owner and manager roles, for events that concern the business: a task completed by an outside assignee, a deal won or lost, a message or a file from a customer or a partner, a settled or overdue payment, and an invited team member.
* The team members who follow the record.

The team member who causes an event never receives it.

## Follow a record [#follow-a-record]

Following a record delivers its events without an assignment.

1. Open a task or a deal.
2. Select the bell button in the actions of the page. The label is **Follow** when the record is not followed and **Following** when it is.

A message confirms the change. The task and deal pages offer the button.

## Delivery channels [#delivery-channels]

The feed always receives the event. Email, browser notifications and Telegram are optional channels. Each team member chooses them in the notification settings, on the **Notifications** page of the settings.
