# Getting Started Checklist (https://docs.carlio.app/docs/overview/complete-the-getting-started-checklist)

Follow the four setup steps that the Overview page offers to a new dealership

The **Getting Started** checklist guides a new dealership through the first records. Each step has a **Start** button that opens the matching form.

## The steps [#the-steps]

| Step | Done when | Permission to see the step |
| -------------------------- | --------------------------------------------- | -------------------------- |
| **Add Your First Vehicle** | The dealership has at least one car. | Create cars |
| **Create a Task** | The dealership has at least one task. | **Create Tasks** |
| **Open a Deal** | The dealership has at least one deal. | Create deals |
| **Invite Your Team** | The dealership has more than one team member. | Create invitations |

The checklist shows only the steps that the team member may perform. The header reads, for example, **2 of 4 done**.

## Steps to follow [#steps-to-follow]

2. Find the **Getting Started** card.
3. Select **Start** on a step. The form opens. **Invite Your Team** opens the **Team** settings.

## Where the checklist appears [#where-the-checklist-appears]

* On a dealership without any cars, tasks or deals, the checklist is the only content of the page. The reporting period control and the headline figures are hidden.
* Once any of those records exists, the checklist moves below the headline figures.
* The checklist disappears when every step is done.

## Dismiss the checklist [#dismiss-the-checklist]

1. Select the small close button **Dismiss the checklist** in the header of the card.

The card disappears. The browser remembers the choice for one year. The choice is stored in the browser, so another browser or another device still shows the card.

## Notes [#notes]

* A step is marked done by the existence of a record, not by use of the **Start** button.
* A team member who may perform none of the steps does not see the checklist.
