# Shipment Map (https://docs.carlio.app/docs/exports/read-the-shipment-map)

View tracked shipments on the map and read the voyage of a single car

The **Shipment Map** shows every tracked shipment of the dealership. The **Shipment** tab of a car page shows the voyage of that car.

**Requirements:** none for viewing. Shipments appear after shipment tracking is switched on. See [Track a shipment](/docs/exports/track-a-shipment).

## Open the shipment map [#open-the-shipment-map]

1. Open **[Exports](https://carlio.app/dashboard/exports)** in the sidebar.
2. Select **[Map](https://carlio.app/dashboard/exports/map)**.

The header states the use of the plan, for example "3 of 15 tracking places in use". Delivered shipments stay on the map for 14 days and use no place. Select **Exports** to return to the list.

The page shows the message "No Tracked Shipments" when no shipment is tracked. Select **Open Exports** to go back to the list.

## Find a shipment [#find-a-shipment]

1. Enter text in the search field. The field matches the bill of lading, the container, the VIN, the customer, the carrier, the vessel and the ports. The search narrows the list and the map together.
2. Read the shipment card. It shows the carrier, the status, the reference, the route, the vessel, the time of the last update and the arrival date. The label **Arrived** replaces **ETA** once the carrier reports arrival.
3. Read the container rows under the header. Each row shows the container number, the size and type, and the number of cars. The cars appear as links. The text "Container number not recorded" groups cars without a container number.
4. Select a card or a container row to open the voyage. Select **All Containers** to return to the list.

## Read the map [#read-the-map]

* Each route is drawn as lines by transport type. The legend names **Sea**, **Rail** and **Truck**.
* A ship marker shows the last reported position of an active shipment.
* Pointing at a route opens a card with the shipment header and its containers.
* Selecting a route or a marker opens the voyage in the left column.

## Read the voyage of a car [#read-the-voyage-of-a-car]

1. Open the car page of a tracked car.
2. Select **View Voyage** in the **Shipping** panel, or open the **Shipment** tab. The tab appears only while the car is linked to a tracked shipment.
3. Read the header. It shows the carrier, the status, the reference, the number of containers and the time of the last update. **Refresh** updates the data once every 15 minutes.
4. Read the route stops: **Place of Receipt**, **Port of Loading**, **Port of Discharge** and **Place of Delivery**. Only the stops that the carrier names appear. The dates use the prefixes **ATD** and **ETD** for departure and **ATA** and **ETA** for arrival. The prefixes ATD and ATA mark actual times. ETD and ETA mark estimates.
5. Select a container to open its milestones. Completed events before the latest one are folded. Select **View** followed by the number of completed events to unfold them.

## Result [#result]

Each milestone shows the event, the place, the time and the transport type. Vessel and voyage names appear when the carrier reports them. The tags **Full** and **Empty** show the state of the container where the carrier reports it. The message "The carrier has not yet recorded any milestones." appears before the first event.

## Notes [#notes]

* A stopped shipment keeps its last data. The map shows a delivered shipment for 14 days after it stops.
* The route and the position depend on the data of the carrier. A shipment can show fewer stops than listed above.
