Add a car to a deal opened without one, or replace the car of a deal



Attach a car to a deal after the dealership has sourced the car for the customer.

**Requirements:** The deal update permission, held by the Owner and Manager roles. The car must exist in the inventory.

## Attach a car from the customer page [#attach-a-car-from-the-customer-page]

1. Select **[Customers](https://carlio.app/dashboard/customers)** in the sidebar and open the customer.
2. Open the **Deals** tab.
3. Find the deal that shows **No car attached yet**.
4. Select **Attach car**. The **Attach a Vehicle** dialog opens.
5. In **Vehicle**, search by car name, plate or VIN and select the car.
6. Select **Attach**.

The toast **Vehicle attached** confirms the change. The deal row now shows the car.

## Attach or replace a car from the deal [#attach-or-replace-a-car-from-the-deal]

1. Open the deal.
2. Select **Edit** in the actions menu of the deal. The **Edit Deal** dialog opens.
3. In **Vehicle**, search for a car and select it.
4. Select **Save Changes**.

The **Vehicle** section of the deal page shows the stage of the car. A car with a shipment also shows the destination, the vessel and the arrival date.

## Notes [#notes]

* A car can be on only one **Open** or **Won** deal. When another deal holds the car, the dashboard shows **That car is already on deal #** and the number. Select another car or change the status of the other deal.
* A deal cannot be marked **Won** without a car. See [Change the status of a deal](/docs/deals/change-the-status-of-a-deal).
* The **Attach a Vehicle** dialog lists at most 100 cars of the inventory.
* The car can be replaced at any stage, including **Won**, provided that no other **Open** or **Won** deal holds the new car. Detaching a car from a **Won** deal is refused.
* The **Edit** action needs **Deal Financial Access** and **Partner Commission Access** in addition to the deal update permission. The **Attach car** button on the customer page does not need them.
* Attaching a car does not change the stage of the car. The car moves to **Sold** when the deal is marked **Won**.
